SOLUTION

GIVEN

Suhail has 3 boxes of different fruits.

Box A weighs 2.50 kg more than box B and box C weighs 10.25 kg more than box B.

The total weight of the three boxes is 48.75kg.

TO DETERMINE

The weight in box A

EVALUATION

Let the weight in box B = x kg

Box A weighs 2.50 kg more than box B

Weight of box A = x + 2.50 kg

Again box C weighs 10.25 kg more than box B.

Weight of box C = x + 10.25 kg

So by the given condition

x + 2.50 + x + x + 10.25 = 48.75

⇒ 3x + 12.75 = 48.75

⇒ 3x = 36

⇒ x = 12

Weight in box B = 12 kg

Weight of box A = 12 + 2.50 kg = 14.50 kg

FINAL ANSWER

Weight of box A = 14.50 kg
