Suhail's age is three times his son's age. Ten years ago he was five times his son's age. Find their present ages.​

To find :-

Suhail and Suhail's son present age

Solution:-

Let the present age of Suhail's son be x years

Therefore the present age of Suhail will be 3x

As per the given question we have,

Age of Suhail ten years ago = 5 × age of Suhail's son ten years ago

Therefore

$(3x \: - \: 10 \:) = \: 5x \: (x \: - 10)$

$3x \: - \: 10 \: = \: 5x \: - \: 50$

$3x \: - \: 10 \: + 50 = 5x$

$- 10 + 50 = 5x - 3x$

$40 = 2x$

$\frac{40}{2} = \: x$

$20 \: = \: x$

So Present age of Suhail's son

$= x = 20$

Present age of Suhail will be

$3x \: = 3 \times 20 = 60$
