here y gets cancelled as +y from (i) is subtracted by -y from (ii).
that is,
2x=14
x=14/2
x=7
now, y= 10-7 (because from i x+y=10 and we found that x=7)
that is,
y= 3
hence, the two numbers are 7 and 3.
