and x-y=7

then x=35-y. (equation 2)


now, substituting the value of x in equation 2

35-y-y=7
-2y=7-35
-2y=-28
y=-28/-2
y=14

x=35-y
x=35-14
x=21


so, the two nos. are 21 and 14
