Given :-

➪ Sum of 2 numbers = 69

➪ a + b = 69           ( a and b are any 2 numbers )

Difference of 2 numbers = 17

➪ a - b = 17

To find :-

➪ Those 2 numbers

➪ a and b

Solution :-

➪ a + b = 69   - (i)

➪ a - b = 17     - (ii)

➪ Adding (i) and (ii), we get :-

➪ 2a = 86

➪ a = ⁸⁶⁄₂

➪ a = 43

➪ Substitute in (i) :-

➪ a + b = 69

➪ 43 + b = 69

➪ b = 69 - 43

➪ b = 26

The values of a and b are 43 and 26

Verification :-

➪ a + b = 69

➪ 43 + 26 = 69

➪ 69 = 69

➪ L.H.S = R.H.S

Or :-

➪ a - b = 17

➪ 43 - 26 = 17

➪ 17 = 17

➪ L.H.S = R.H.S

We can confirm the values of a and b are 43 and 26
