Question:

sum of 3terms of the AP is 27 if their product is 504 find the three terms

Answer:

9,4,14

Step by step explanation:

Let the three terms be a-d, a, a+d

Given sum of the three terms = 27

  • i.e a-d + a + a+d = 27
  • 3a = 27
  • a = 27/3
  • a = 9 -----------(1)

Now, the product is 504

  • i.e (a-d)(a)(a+d) = 504
  • (9-d)(9)(9+d) = 504 ( From eq. 1 )
  • (9-d) (9+d) = 56
  • 9^2 - d^2 = 56 { (a-b)(a+b) = a^2 - b^2 }
  • 81 - d^2 = 56
  • d^2 = 25
  • d = 25
  • d = 5 -----------(2)

Now the terms we have are :-

a - d = 9 - 5 = 4

a + d = 9 + 5 = 14

a = 9
