Answer:

Present age of A is 62 years and of B is 38 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of A be x years

present age of B be y years

6 years ago, their ages were 6 years lesser :

Age of A at that time = ( x - 6 ) years

Age of B at that times = ( y - 6 ) years

According to the question :

= > Sum of A's age and B's age 6 years ago = 88 years

= > ( x - 6 ) years + ( y - 6 ) years = 88 years

= > x - 6 + y - 6 = 88

= > x + y - 12 = 88

= > x + y = 88 + 12

= > x + y = 100

Also, 18 years ago, A's ago B's age 6 years after

= > ( x - 18 ) years = ( y + 6 ) years

= > x - 18 = y + 6

= > x - y = 6 + 18

= > x - y = 24

Now, adding x + y and x - y

= > ( x + y ) + ( x - y ) = 100 + 24

= > 2x = 124

= > x = 62

= > x + y = 100

= > 62 + y = 100

= > y = 100 - 62

= > 38

therefore present age of A is 62 years and of B is 38 years.
