let the the number in tens place be x
and the number in units place be y
:. original number= 10x+y
:. interchanged digits = 10y+x
according to first condition,
10y + x = 66........................1
according to second condition,
x-y=2
x=2+y.….....................2
put equation 2 in 1
10y+x=66
10y+(2+y)=66
10y+2+y=66
11y+2=66
y+2=66/11
y=6-2
y=4
put y=4 in equation 2
x=2+y
x=2+4
x=6
:. original number= 10x+y
=10×6+4
=60+4
=64
:. the number is 64
and the number in units place be y
:. original number= 10x+y
:. interchanged digits = 10y+x
according to first condition,
10y + x = 66........................1
according to second condition,
x-y=2
x=2+y.….....................2
put equation 2 in 1
10y+x=66
10y+(2+y)=66
10y+2+y=66
11y+2=66
y+2=66/11
y=6-2
y=4
put y=4 in equation 2
x=2+y
x=2+4
x=6
:. original number= 10x+y
=10×6+4
=60+4
=64
:. the number is 64
