∴ x + y = 68
y = 68 - x ...(i)
(x + 8) = 3 (y + 8)
Substituting y from equation (i)
x + 8 = 3 ( 68 - x + 8)
⇒ x + 8 = 3.76 - 3x
⇒ 4x = 228 - 8
⇒ x = 220 / 4 = 55
∴ y = 68 - x = 68 - 55 = 13a
