Sum of ages of Seema and Rani is 40 years. If their ages are in the ratio 3 : 5, find their ages.​

It is given that the sum of ages of Seema and Rani is 40 years.

We have to find out their individual age.

  • So as per the question, the ratio of their ages is 3:5

Let the ages be 3x and 5x

∴ 3x + 5x = 40

     8x = 40

       x= 5

  • The ages will be , 3x = 3 × 5

                                  =15

                            5x = 5 × 5

                                = 25

The age of Seema and Rani will be 15 years and 25 years respectively.

Ages of seema and rani

Solution :

let the age of seema will be 3x

and the age of rani will be 5x.

it is given that

The Sum of ages of Seema and Rani is 40

so, 3x+5x=40

       8x=40

          x= 5

now, the age of seema will be 3×5=15

the age of rani will be 5×5=25

Hence, the ages of seema and rani are 25 and 15.
