EXPLANATION.

  • GIVEN

sum of digit of two digit number = 8

if number obtained by reversing the digit is 18

more than the original number.

Find the original number.

Let tens place digit = x

Let unit place digit = y

original number = 10x + y

reversing number = 10y + x

according to the question,

sum of digit of two digit number = 8

x + y = 8 ......(1)

if number obtained by reversing the digit is

18 more than the original number.

10x + y = 18 + 10y + x

9x - 9y = 18

x - y = 2 ......(2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

2x = 10

x = 5

put the value of x = 5 in equation (1)

we get,

5 + y = 8

y = 3

Original number = 10x + y

10(5) + 3 = 53

Therefore,

original number = 53
