Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

QUESTION:

  • Sum of first 5th term of an arithmetic sequence is 40.What is the m

iddle term and write the sequence

TO FIND:

TO FIND THE MIDDLE TERM OF THE SEQUENCE

i.e. THE 3'rd TERM OF THE SEQUENCE

SOLUTION;

WE HAVE SUM OF FIRST 5 TERMS IS 40

FIRST TERM (X₁) = A

5'TH TERM   (X₅) = A + 4D

SUM OF FIRST 5 TERMS IS 40

\frac{n}{2}(a + l) = 40

⇒ n = 5

\frac{5}{2}(a + a+4d) = 40

2a + 4d = \frac{40 * 2}{5}

2a + 4d = 16\\

⇒ TAKE 2 COMMON

⇒2(A + 2D) = 16

⇒A + 2D = 8   ⇒  3'RD TERM

⇒WE GET COMMON DIFFERENCE = 1

⇒SEQUENCE = 6,7,8,9,10
