Units are ignored in calculation :

Answer:

6 N and 10 N.

Explanation:

Let the forces are a and b. Here sum of both forces is 16 N.

  a + b = 16.

  b = 16 - a

From the attachment( based on question ) :

     8^2 + a^2 = ( 16 - a )^2

⇒ 64 + a^2 = 256 + a^2 - 32a

⇒ a^2 = 256 + a^2 - 32a

⇒ 256 = 32a

⇒ 256 / 32 = a

⇒ 6 = a

  Therefore,

  Forces are a = 6 N

 And, 16 - 6 = 10 N
