Question

Sum of rs 3000 is distributed into 63 gifts.If prize money is 100 or rs25.Find the no. of prizes of each type .

lets assume that x number of gifts contain Rs 100 and y number of gifts contain Rs25

Now, according to the question
100x+25y=3000--------(i)
and 
x+y=63.............(i)

performing (i)-25(ii) we get
75x=1425
x=19
substituting in (ii) we get
y=63-19 = 44

So number of prizes of 100 type = 19 and number of prizes of type 25 is 44

↪ Let the no. of gifts of 100 Rs be x and of 25 Rs be y

Then ,

According to the question

x + y = 63. .......1st equation

100x + 25y = 3000 ....2nd equation

From 1st equation

x = 63 - y

Substituting the value of x in 2nd equation

100 ( 63 - y) + 25y = 3000

6300 - 100y + 25y = 3000

-75y = 3000 - 6300

-75y = -3300

y = 44

Therefore

x = 63-44 = 19

Hence ,

➡ No. of gifts of 100 Rs are 19 and of 25 Rs are 44 .
