3x = 3y + y

x = 28 - y ----------------------- 2

substitute a value of x into equation 2

3(28 - y) - 4y = 0

84 - 3y - 4y = 0

84 - 7y = 0

84 =7y

divide both sides by 7

y = 12

x = 28 - 12

x = 16
