Given:

Sum of areas of two squares = 468 m²

Difference of perimeter = 24 m

Answer:

Explanation

Let the sides of first square be x.

Area = x²

Perimeter= 4x

Let the sides of second square be y.

Area = y²

Perimeter = 4y

Sum of areas of two squares = 468 m²

x²+y² = 468 m² ................(1)

Difference of Perimeter = 24 m

4x-4y = 24 m

x-y = 6 m ...............(2)

Squaring equation (2), we get:

x²+y²-2xy = 36

Substituting the value of x²+y² from (1) in above equation, we get:

-2xy = -432

2xy = 432 ................(3)

x²+y² can be written as (x+y)²-2xy in equation (1),

(x+y)²-2xy = 468

Substituting the value of (3) in above equation , we get:

(x+y)²-432 = 468

(x+y)² = 900

Square rooting both sides, we get:

x+y=30 ...............(4)

Adding (4) and (2) , we get:

x+y+x-y = 30+6

2x = 36

x = 18

Substituting the value of x in (4), we get:

18+y = 30

y = 12

Answer:

Side of first square = 18 m

Side of second square = 12 m
