Question :- sum of the infinite geometric sequence 1,2/3,4/9 is ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • sum of infinite terms of GP = a / (1 - r) .
  • a = first term of GP .
  • r = common ratio . => second term ÷ first term .

so,

→ a = 1

→ r = (2/3) ÷ 1 = (2/3)

then,

→ sum of infinite terms of GP = a/(1 - r)

→ sum of infinite terms of GP = 1 / (1 - 2/3)

→ sum of infinite terms of GP = 1/(1/3)

→ sum of infinite terms of GP = 3 (Ans.)
