as given , x + 1/x = 10/3

x^2 +1 / x = 10 /3

3x^2 + 3 = 10x


3x^2 - 10x + 3 = 0

3x^2 - 9x - x + 3 = 0

3x ( x - 3 ) -1(x-3) = 0

( x - 3 ) ( 3x - 1 ) = 0

x - 3 = 0 or 3x - 1 = 0

x = 3 or x = 1 /3

so number is 3 and it's reciprocal is 1/3
