Given :-

  • sum of the present age of manisha and tushar is 35 years
  • 5 year ago manisha age was 4 times the age of tushar

Find :-

  • present age of manisha & tusar

Explanation

Let,

  • Age of Manisha = x years
  • Age of Tusar = y years

A/C to question,

(sum of the present age of manisha and tushar is 35 years)

➥ x + y = 35 ----------(1)

Again,

(5 year ago manisha age was 4 times the age of tushar)

➥ (x - 5) = 4 * (y - 5)

➥ x - 4y = -20 + 5

➥ x - 4y = - 15 ---------(2)

Subtract equ(1) & equ(2)

➥ y + 4y = 35 + 15

➥ 5y = 50

➥ y = 50/5

➥ y = 10

Keep Value in equ(1)

➥ x + 10 = 35

➥ x = 35 - 10

➥ x = 25

Hence

  • Age of Manisha x = 25 years
  • Age of Tushar y = 10 years

SOLUTION :-

=> Let us assume that,

Manisha's age is R years.

•Tushar's age is S years.

=>ATQ,

=> (sum of the present age of manisha and tushar is 35 years .)

=> R + S = 35. -----------(1)

=>Again,

=>(5 year ago manisha age was 4 times the age of tushar.)

=>(R - 5) = 4 × ( S - 5)

=>R - 5 = 4S - 20

=>R - 4S = -20 + 5

=>R - 4S = -15 -----------(2)

=> Subtracting equ.(1) and equ.(2)

R + S = 35

R -4S = -15

(-) (+) (+)

5S = 50

S = 50/5

.°. S = 10.

=> Put s = 10 in equation (1).

=> R + S = 35

=> R + 10 = 35

=> R = 35 - 10

=> .°. R = 25.

=> Therefore,

•Manisha's age is 25 years.

•And tushar's age is 10 years.
