Step-by-step explanation:

For ease of reference, let’s assume a variable - x.

Current ratio of ages of Seema (S) & Naresh (N) is 5:7. Bringing in the X factor (heehee) - S:N=5x:7X

5 years hence, S:N=(5x+5):(7x+5)=3:4

(5x+5):(7x+5)=3:4 can be translated to

(5x+5) divided by (7x+5)=3/4

Solving for x:

(5x+5)*4=3*(7x+5) (simple transfer of denominators to the opp. side where the denominator becomes multiplicator)

20x+20=21x+15

transferring variables to one side of the equation & constants to the other side:

21x-20x=20–15

x=5

so S’s age = 5*5=25

N’s age = 7*5=35

as a check:

25:35=5:7

(25+5):(35+5)=30:40=3:4
