Sum of the present ages of Rahul & Sachin is 25. Five years ago Rahul’s age was twice the age of Sachin. Find their present ages.​

LET THE AGE OF RAHUL AND SACHIN BE X AND Y RESPECTIVELY .

SO, ACCORDING TO QUESTION

X + Y = 25 -->(1)

BEFORE FIVE YEARS THEIR AGES WOULD BE

X-5 AND Y-5 RESPECTIVELY

BUT AFTER 5 YEARS ,

RAHUL WOULD BE 2x THE AGE OF SACHIN

SO,

X-5 = 2x(Y-5)

X-5 = 2Y-10 ( opening the bracket )

X = 2Y-10+5

X = 2Y-5 --> (2)

NOW SUBSITUTING Equation (2) in (1)

=>X+Y = 25. --- (FROM EQUATION 1)

=>(2Y-5)+Y =25 ---(FROM EQUATION 2)

=>2Y -5+Y=25

=>2Y +Y =25 +5

=>3Y = 30

Y = 30/3 => 10 ---(3)

SO AGE OF SACHIN WILL BE 10

SINCE IT IS GIVEN THAT

SUM OF THEIR AGES ARE = 25

SO X + Y = 25

X + 10 = 25 ---(FROM EQUATION THREE)

X = 25 - 10

X = 15

SO AGES OF RAHUL AND SACHIN ARE 15 AND 10 RESPECTIVELY
