Answer:

18 and 15 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Payal's age be x.

Let Sailja's age be y.

So, acc. to ques, x + y = 29 --- (i)

Now, Sailja is younger and the difference of their ages 3 years ago was 5 years.

So, their ages 3 years ago will be (x - 3) and (y - 3).

As Sailja is younger (given), (x - 3) - (y - 3) = 3

=> x - 3 - y + 3 = 3

=> x - y = 3 --- (ii)

Adding (i) and (ii),

x + y = 29

x - y = 3

=> 2x = 32

x = Payal's age = 32/2 => 16 years.

Putting this in (i),

=> 16 + y = 29

y = Sailja's age = 29 - 16 => 13 years.

Thus, Payal and Sailja's age 2 years from now is 16 + 2 => 18 years and 13 + 2 => 15 years respectively.
