Sum of the two number is 51 if one of the number exceed the other number by 11

x+y=51. (1)

x-y=11. (2)

Add equation (1) and (2)

2x=62

x=62/2

x=31

Substituting in eq(1)

31+y=51

y=51-31

y=20

Numbers are 31 and 20
