Sum of the two terms of a fraction is 12. If 3 is added to both of its terms, the new fraction exceeds the old by 3/35. Then the difference between numerator and denominator is,

If we let x=numerator and y=denominator, the equations satisfying the problem requirements are as follows:

X+Y=12 and X+3/Y+3=X/Y+3/35

After doing the math we find that Y=7 and X=5

Therefore the difference between the numertor and denominator is 2.
