The three consecutive even numbers are 10, 12, and 14, when the sum of three consecutive even numbers is 36.

Given:

The sum of three consecutive even numbers = 36

To Find :

We have to find the numbers.

Solution:

Step 1 :

Let the three consecutive even numbers be :

x , (x + 2) and (x + 4)

Step 2 :

Add the three consecutive even numbers :

According to question:

x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 36

(x + x + x) + (2 + 4) = 36

3x + 6 = 36

3x  = 36 - 6

3x = 30

x = \frac {30}{3}

x = 10

Step 3 :

Find the 3 consecutive even numbers by putting x = 10 in x , (x + 2) and (x + 4):

First consecutive even number = x = 10

Second consecutive even number = x + 2 = 10 + 2 = 12

Third consecutive even number = x + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14

Hence, the 3 consecutive even numbers be 10, 12 and 14.

The numbers are 10 , 12 , 14

Given :

Sum of three consecutive even numbers is 36

To find :

Find the numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Let three consecutive even numbers are x , x + 2 , x + 4

By the given condition

\displaystyle \sf{ x + (x + 2) + (x +4)  = 36}

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the numbers

\displaystyle \sf{ x + (x + 2) + (x +4)  = 36}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 3x + 6 = 36}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 3x = 36 - 6}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 3x = 30}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  \frac{30}{3} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x = 10}

First number = x = 10

Second number = x + 2 = 10 + 2 = 12

Third number = x + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14

Hence three numbers are 10 , 12 , 14
