sum of three consecutive intergers is 48. find the even number
mishti:
one number is even=2x.
other 2 are odd= (2x+1) and (2x-1)
so, (2x+1) + 2x + (2x-1)=48
2x+2x+2x=48
6x=48
x=8.
so the three numbers are= 15,16,17.
i.e. 3x+3=48
or,3x=48-3=45
So, the three consequtive numbers are 15,16,17 out of which only 16 is even.

let the consecutive integers be x,x+1,x+2 so x+x+1x+2=48 then x=15 so numbers are 15,16,17 so the even number is16

Hey there!
Let the three consecutive integers be x, x + 1 , x + 2 .
So,
=> x +( x + 1) + ( x + 2 ) = 48
=> 3x + 3 = 48
=> 3x = 45
=> x = 15
The three numbers are,
x =15
x + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16
x + 2 = 15 + 2 = 17 .
Here, 16 is divisible by 2 . So, 16 is the required even number.
Therefore, Among the three consecutive numbers, 16 is the even number.
Let the three consecutive integers be x, x + 1 , x + 2 .
So,
=> x +( x + 1) + ( x + 2 ) = 48
=> 3x + 3 = 48
=> 3x = 45
=> x = 15
The three numbers are,
x =15
x + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16
x + 2 = 15 + 2 = 17 .
Here, 16 is divisible by 2 . So, 16 is the required even number.
Therefore, Among the three consecutive numbers, 16 is the even number.
