Answer:

The three consecutive multiples of 4 are - 44 , 48 , 52

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the consecutive multiples of 4 be - x , (x+4) , (x+8).

The consecutive multiples of four add up to 144.

So, x + x + 4 + x + 8 = 144

3x + 12 = 144

3x = 144 - 12

3x = 132

x = 132 /3

x = 3.

The consecutive multiples of 4 are -

x = 44

x + 4 = 44 + 4 = 48

x + 8 = 44 + 8 = 52

Therefore, the three consecutive multiples of four that add up to 144 are 44, 48, 52.

Hope it helps ! : )

To find : three multiples of 4

Given : sum of three consecutive multiples of 4 is 144.

Solution :

  • Let the first multiple of 4 be 4x , second consecutive multiple of 4 be 4(x + 1) and third multiple of 4 be 4(x + 2 ).
  • Then we write given condition as :

       4x + (4x + 4 ) + ( 4x + 8) = 144

  • Now , adding like terms together we get ,

                12x + 12 = 144

                        12x = 144 -12

                            x = \frac{132}{12}

                            x = 11

  • Substituting  value of x in given multiples  we get,
  • First multiple = x = 11
  • Second multiple = x + 1 = 11 + 1 = 12
  • Third multiple = x + 2 = 11 + 2 = 13

       Hence , multiples are 11, 12 \ and \ 13.
