Answer

The greatest number is 610.

[Option. (b) 610].

Step-by-step explanation:

To Find :-

  • The greatest number.

Solution

Given that,

  • The sum of three numbers = 1037
  • The ratio of the numbers are 2:5:10

Let us assume the ratio of three numbers as (2x), (5x) and (10x),

∴ 2x + 5x + 10x = 1037

2x + 5x + 10x = 1037

7x + 10x = 1037

17x = 1037

x = 1037/17

x = 61

We got, The value of x is 61.

The numbers are :-

  • 2x = 2*61 = 122
  • 5x = 5*61 = 305
  • 10x = 10*61 = 610

Now, According the question,

  • The greatest number :-

We got. 122, 305 and 610.

Hence, The greatest number = 610.

V E R I F I C A T I O N :-

  • 2x + 5x + 10x = 1037

By putting the value of numbers [2x,5x,10x] in L.H.S :-

2x + 5x + 10x

122 + 305 + 610

1037

Now, L.H.S = R.H.S = 1037
