The correct answer is 16.

Given: Sum of three numbers = 48.

Ratio of first and second = 3: 4.

Ratio of second and third = 4: 5.

To Find: Second number.

Solution:

Ratio of first and second = 3: 4.

Let the first number = 3x.

\frac{3x}{second number}=\frac{3}{4}

Second number = 4x.

Now take the ratio 4: 5.

\frac{4x}{third number}=\frac{4}{5}

Third number = 5x.

As we know sum of tree numbers = 48.

3x + 4x + 5x = 48

12x = 48

x = 4

Second number = 4x = 4(4) = 16

Hence, the second number is 16.
