ATQ,

3x + 8y = 19 ... (i)

and

17x - 4y = 9 ...(ii) × 2

Adding (i) and (ii),

   3x  + 8y = 19

   34x - 8y = 18

   37x         = 37

x = 1

From (i),

→    3x + 8y = 19

→   3(1) + 8y = 19

→   3 + 8y = 19

→   8y = 19-3

→   8y = 16

→   y = 2
