let the integers be x and (88-x).

so,

5 × x + 10 = (88-x)

or, 5x + 10 = 88 -x

or, 6x = 78

or, x = 13

therefore, greater integer 88-13 = 75

Given,

The sum of two integers = 88

The greater is divided by the smaller, the quotient is 5 and the remainder is 10.

To Find,

The greater integer =?

Solution,

We can solve the question using the following steps:

Let x be the greater and y be the smaller integer.

x + y =88 -------- (1)

Since dividend = divisor*quotient + remainder,

x = 5y +10 -------- (2)

In the above equation, x is divided by y. The quotient and the remainder are 5 and 10 respectively.

Substituting equation (2) in (1),

5y + 10 + y = 88

6y + 10 = 88

6y = 78

y = 13

Now, to find the value of x, we substitute the value of y in the second equation.

x = 5y + 10 = 5*13 + 10 = 75

Therefore, x = 75, y = 13

Hence, the greater integer is 75.
