x - y = 13 ......(ii)

x = 35 - y

Putting the value of x in (ii),

x - y = 13

⇒ - 2y = 13 - 35

⇒ - 2y = - 22

⇒ y = 22/2

⇒ y = 11

Putting the value of y in (i)

x + y = 35
