CORRECT QUESTION:-

Sum of two number is 80 and thrice of the difference of those two numbers is 20 more than the larger number.Find the numbers

EXPLANATION:-

Let the 2 numbers be x and y and the larger number is x and smaller is y

Sum of the numbers=80

x+y=80--------equation no. 1

Difference of the numbers is is 20 more than the larger number:-

3(x-y)=x+20-----equation no-2

Now let's find the value of x and y:-

x+y=80

x=80-y

Substitute x=80-y into 3(x-y)=x+20

3(80−2y)=100−y

240-6y=100-y

240-100=-y+6y

140=5y

y=28

So the value of  is 28

Substitute y=28 in equation no-1

x+y=80

x+28=80

x=52

So the numbers are 52 and 28
