Sum of two numbers is 55 and 5 times the larger number is equL to 6 times then the smaller number.Find the 2 numbers.​

Five times the larger number is equal to Six times the smaller number. 5x = 6y

So you know if you add the two numbers you get 55. So both the numbers are less than 55.

(x + y = 55) (x 6) = 6x + 6y = 330

and 5x = 6y >>

5x - 6y = 0 >>

6x + 6y = 330 + 5x - 6y = 0 >> 11x = 330 >> x = 30

So x = 30 and therefore y = 25

Testing gives x + y = 55

30 + 25 does equal 55

5 x 30 = 150

6 x 25 = 150
