Sum of two numbers is 60 and their difference is 40 find the number

The sum of 2 numbers 60

let it be :- x+y= 60 ....eq1

the difference of two number is 40

let it be x-y= 40 ....eq 2

Now according to the given question ,

x+x =60+40

2x=100

so, x=50

and y = 50-40=10
