Given

Sum of two numbers is 60.

The greater number is 8 more than thrice the smaller number

To Find

We have to find the numbers

\sf\huge {\underline{\underline{{Solution}}}}

Since,we don't know the numbers so,we assume some Variable for numbers.

Let the smaller number be 'x'

and the bigger number be 'y'

According to the question:

=> x+y= 60-----(1)

Now, greater number is 8 more than thrice the smaller number:

Thrice the smaller number= 3x

8 more than thrice the smaller number= 8+3x

Now,our Equation becomes:

=>y = 8+3x

From equation 1

x= 60-y

put x's in this Equation

=> y= 8+3(60-y)

=>y= 8+180-3y

=> y+3y= 188

=>4y= 188

=>y= 188/4= 47

y= 47

Put y's in this Equation

=> x= 60-y

=>x = 60-47= 13

x= 13

Hence,the numbers are 13 and 47.

Check:-

Sum of two numbers is 60: 13+47
