now , substituting the value of x from eq (2) in eq(1)....

10 + y + y = 74

10 + 2y = 74

2y = 74 - 10

2y = 64

y = $\frac{64}{2}$

y = 32...

now , since ,  x = 10 + y

                 ⇒ x = 10 + 32

                   ⇒  x = 42....
