Answer:

Given :-

  • Sum of two numbers is 90.
  • One exceeds the other by 30.

To Find :-

  • What are the numbers.

Solution :-

Let,

First Number = a

Second Number = a + 30

According to the question,

a + a + 30 = 90

2a + 30 = 90

2a = 90 - 30

2a = 60

a = 60/2

a = 30

Hence, the required numbers are :

First Number :

First Number = a

First Number = 30

Second Number :

Second Number = a + 30

Second Number = 30 + 30

Second Number = 60

The numbers are 30 and 60 respectively.

\\

VERIFICATION :-

a + a + 30 = 90

By putting a = 30 we get,

30 + 30 + 30 = 90

60 + 30 = 90

90 = 90

Hence, Verified.

Given :

sum of two numbers is 90 if one exceed the other by 30 find the numbers

explain it

Solution :

Let us assume :

The first number be x

According to the question,

The other number exceeds the first one by 30

It means 30 will be added to x = x + 30

Now, it is given that sum of two numbers is 90 i.e sum of 1st one with the second gives 90

Hence, the equation is :

  • 1st number + 2nd number = 90

  • x + x + 30 = 90

  • 2x + 30 = 90

  • 2x = 90 - 30

  • 2x = 60

Cross multiplying....

  • x = 30

Hence, we got x as 30

Now,

Finding Numbers :

1st Number = x = 30

2nd Number = x + 30 = 30 + 30 = 60

The First Number is 30 whereas the second one is 60

Verification :

Using the same equation we will verify :

  • 1st number + 2nd number = 90

  • 30 + 30 + 30 = 90

  • 3 × 30 = 90

  • 90 = 90

Hence, Verified !!
