  • We need to find the Numbers.

  • Sum of two numbers = 97
  • larger number is divided by smaller then the quotient is 7 and remainder is 1.

  • Let the two numbers be x and y .
  • Let x is greater than y

According to Question :-

≫ Sum of two numbers is 97

  • x + y = 97 ......1)

≫ If the larger no. is divided by smaller no. the quotient is 7 and remainder is 1.

we know that,

 \star \:  \sf \red{Dividend = Divisor\:\times\: Quotient + Remainder}

  • Dividend = x
  • Divisor = y
  • Quotient = 7
  • Remainder = 1

➛ x = y × 7 + 1

➛ x = 7y + 1

➛ x - 7y = 1 ......2)

  • Sum of 2 number is 97
  • Larger number is divided by smaller number and quotient Is 7 and leaves remainder 1

To Find

  • Number =?

Solution

  • Let the larger number be x
  • And smaller number be y

So,

→ x+y=97

→ x= 97-y ----equ(1)

And

→ x=7y+1 ----equ(2)

compare x

→ 97 - y = 7y + 1

→ 97 - 1 = 7y + y

→ 96 = 8y

→ 96/8= y

y = 12

Therefore,

→ x+y = 97

→ x+12 = 97

→ x = 97 - 12

→ x = 85

Hence,

  • Larger number =i.,e x = 85
  • Smaller number i.,e y = 12
