Solution
- Let the larger number be x
- And smaller number be y
So,
→ x+y=97
→ x= 97-y ----equ(1)
And
→ x=7y+1 ----equ(2)
compare x
→ 97 - y = 7y + 1
→ 97 - 1 = 7y + y
→ 96 = 8y
→ 96/8= y
→ y = 12
Therefore,
→ x+y = 97
→ x+12 = 97
→ x = 97 - 12
→ x = 85
Hence,
- Larger number =i.,e x = 85
- Smaller number i.,e y = 12
