Given AP: 3 , 5 , 9 , 13 ....... where

  • a = 3
  • d = 4
  • n = n terms.

Thus sum of all terms i.e. Sn = n/2 [ 2a + (n-1)d ]

Sn =

  • (n/2)[2(3) + (n-1)4]
  • (n/2)[6 + 4n -4]
  • (n/2)(2n-4)
  • (2)(n/2)(n-2)
  • n(n-2)
  • n² - 2n

Thus the sum of n terms of the given expression is n² - 2n for any natural number n.
