Given : Sumalatha started a business by investing Rs 3600.

After 4 months she adds Rs 400 and Rohith joins her with Rs 5000.

After further 6 months, both withdrew Rs 500.

To Find : the difference in their shares of profit if total profit after a year is Rs.25,320

Solution:

Sumalatha started a business by investing Rs 3600

a business by investing Rs 3600. After 4 months she adds Rs 400

Hence 3600 for 4 months

and 3600 + 400 = 4000 for next 6 months

After further 6 months withdraw 500

So 4000 - 500 = 3500 for remaining 2 months   ( 12 - 4 - 6 = 2)

So net   3600 x 4  + 4000 x 6  + 3500 x 2

= 14400 + 24000 + 7000

= 45400

Rohith joins her with Rs 5000. after 2 months

6 months with 5000

and remaining 2 months = 5000 - 500 = 4500

Net = 5000 x 6  + 4500 x 2

= 30000 + 9000

= 39000

Ratio 45400 :   39000

= 454 : 390

= 227 : 195

Difference 227 - 195  = 32  when total is 227 + 195  = 422

Total 423 then difference = 32

=> 25,320 profit  then  (32/422) * 25320  = 1920

difference in their shares of profit if total profit after a year is Rs.25,320  is Rs 1920
