Given:

Suman and Ojus have organized a party. They bought some parties and some paneer tikkas whose total cost is ₹300. If both the items are equal in number and the cost of Pastries item is 2/3 rd of paneer tikkas. Then, the number of paneer tikkas, if the cost of it is ₹9 per piece, is?

To find:

The number of paneer tikkas

Solution:

Since both the items are equal in numbers, so let's say

"x" = no. of pastries = no. of paneer tikkas

If the cost of 1 piece of paneer tikka = ₹ 9

Then the cost of x pieces of paneer tikkas = ₹ 9x

The cost of pastries item is 2/3 rd of paneer tikkas

∴ The cost of x pastries = \frac{2}{3} \times[cost \:of\:x\:paneer\: tikka] = \frac{2}{3} \times 9x = 6x

As given in the question, we get

[Cost of x pastries] + [Cost of x paneer tikkas] = 300

\implies 6x + 9x = 300

\implies 15x  = 300

\implies \bold{x  = 20}

Thus, the number of paneer tikkas are → 20.
