• Present ages of Suman and Lalit.

As suman is 4 times as old as Lalit.So,

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Suman=4x}$

Before 5 years :

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Suman=7(x-5)}$

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Lalit=4x-5}$

A.T.Q :

$\longmapsto\tt{7(x-5)=4x-5}$

$\longmapsto\tt{7x-35=4x-5}$

$\longmapsto\tt{7x-4x=-5+35}$

$\longmapsto\tt{3x=30}$

$\longmapsto\tt{x=\cancel\dfrac{30}{3}}$
