The percentage concentration (w/w) of solution in beaker 'D' is 11.74%

Explanation:

Weight of salt = 200 gram

Concentration of A = 15%

Weight of Solute in A/(Weight of Solute in A + Weight of Solvent in A) = 15/100

200/(200 + Weight of Solvent in A) = 15/100

Thus,

Weight of Solvent in A = 200(100-15)/15 = 3400/3 gram

Similarly,

Weight of Solvent in B = 200(100-12)/12 = 4400/3 gram

Weight of Solvent in C = 200(100-10)/10 = 1800 gram

When 100 gram of water is evaporated from C

Then the concentration of Solution C = 200/(200+1700) = 10.52%

In 10 gram solution from A, the weight of salt = 1.5 gram

And weight of solvent = 9.5 gram

In 15 gram solution from B, the weight of salt = (12/100) × 15 = 1.8 gram

And weight of solvent = 15 - 1.8 = 13.2 gram

In 20 gram solution from C, the weight of salt = (10.52/100) × 20 = 2.104 gram

And weight of solvent = 20 - 12.104 = 17.896 gram

In beaker D

Total weight of solute (salt) = 1.5 + 1.8 + 2.104 = 5.404 gram

Total weight of solvent = 9.5 + 13.2 + 17.896 = 40.596 gram

% concentration of solution (w/w) in beaker D = [5.404/(5.404 + 40.596)] × 100 = 11.74%

Hope this answer is helpful.

Given : Sumit, Akshay and Ruchi prepared 200 g salt solution each in beaker 'A', 'B' and 'C' with concentration (% w/w) 15%, 12% and 10% respectively

Ruchi evaporated 100 g of water from beaker 'C' and the concentration of solution changes to x% from 10%.

Rohit took 10 g solution from beaker 'A', 15 g solution from beaker 'B' and 20 g solution from beaker 'C' (after evaporation) and mixed in another beaker 'D'

To Find :  The percentage concentration (w/w) of solution in beaker 'D'

A) 15%

B) 15.87%

C.18.68%

D) 16.22%

Solution:

10 g solution from beaker 'A', with concentration (% w/w) 15%

concentration = (15/100)10  = 1.5g

Water = 10 - 1.5 = 8.5 g

15 g solution from beaker 'B', with concentration (% w/w) 12%

concentration = (12/100)15 = 1.8g

Water = 15 - 1.8 =13.2 g

Beaker C 200 g  - concentration (% w/w)  10%

concentration = (10/100)200  =20g

Water = 200 - 20 = 180g

Water evaporated = 100 g

So solution in beaker C

concentration = 20 g  and  water = 80 g  => mixture = 100 g

20 g solution from beaker 'C'

Concentration = (20/100)20 = 4 g

1.5 + 1.8 + 4  = 7.3 g concentration

Total = 10 + 15 + 20  = 45 g

% Concentration  = (7.3/45) * 100 =  16.22 %

D) 16.22%  is correct answer
