Copper, a trace mineral required by the human body, has multifarious potentials. It is antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory all rolled into one. Since the human body cannot synthesise this metal, its requirement must be met from external dietary sources. Its antibacterial quality is toxic to the bacteria which cause stomach and urinary tract infections. Having a couple of glasses of water which is stored in copper vessels overnight yields several benefits such as, flushing out toxins from the body, eliminating wastes effectively, enhancing the capacity of the kidneys and increasing the capacity of the body to absorb nutrients. It regulates blood sugar levels, heart rate and reduces triglycerides and bad cholesterol levels. Being a vital component of melanin, it regulates the colour of the skin, the eyes and the hair and protects the skin from sun damage by enabling the speedy healing of wounds and scars. It increases the ability of the blood to absorb iron and remedies anaemia, stimulates the malfunction of the thyroid, strengthens the bone and immune system, thereby reducing the chances of arthritis.
