Summary
One evening Charlotte calls a barn-wide meeting. She tells the group the web needs a fresh new word and asks for ideas. The goose suggests the word terrific, and Charlotte likes it. When Wilbur objects, saying he is not terrific, Charlotte tells him "that doesn't make a particle of difference" and explains that "people believe almost anything they see in print."
The oldest sheep points out that old magazines at the dump might contain useful words. Templeton often goes foraging there and could tear old bits of advertisements, she says. Templeton refuses to comply until the old sheep points out that if Wilbur is killed, the rat will have no leftover slops to eat. "Wilbur's destiny and your destiny are closely linked," she explains. Templeton gets the message and promises to bring a clipping to Charlotte the next day
