The poet thinks that planting a tree is more than we take plantation as an activity.Planting a tree means planting a friend of sun and sky, because it will grow tall and become a friend. It will float like a flag in breezes. It will look like a very high and beautiful tower. It will be a place closer to heaven, where mother birds will sing their babies to sleep and this will be sweet like heavenly music.
Again the poet thinks that a person who plants a tree plants shade and rain. The trees will give shade and rain in future. It is the heritage of the forest. Even the next generation will enjoy it.
In the third stanza, the poet becomes reflective. According to him a person who plants a tree plants it with a sense of love and faith and for people he does not know. He thinks about welfare of others. Even the growth of a nation depends on trees.
