Summary of a Faithful Friend written by William Shakespeare:
William Shakespeare has written about how to distinguish between a true friend and the ones pretending to be true friends. He has written some lines about it, which is as follows:
Every one that flatters thee, is no friend in misery.
Every man will be thy friend, whilst thou have money to spend,
But if store of crowns be scant, No man will supply thy want.
'He is thy friend indeed', 'He will help thee in thy need',
'If thou sorrow', 'he will weep': 'If thou walk he cannot sleep';
'Thus every grief in heart', 'He with thou bear a part';
'These are sign to know', 'Faithful friend', 'from flattering foe'.
In these lines the poet is trying to make a clear distinction between a true friend and a friend in disguise. He says that there will be people who would be there with us when we have all the happiness in the world, like money to spend and in power. But as soon as this things are lost they will leave our side. This is when we know who the true friends are, they will be there for us even when we are in worst of conditions. They will be with us through thick and thin and they can only be said as our true friends. The poet says that we must take care of them and he good to them.
