Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman (CV Raman) was born on November 7, 1888 in Thiruvanekoyl, Tiruchirapalli, Madras province. His father's name was Chandrashekhar Aiyar. His mother's name was Parvati. Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman's early education was in Visakhapatnam.

Sir C. V. Raman secured first place in the Bachelor of Science examination in 1904 and received Gold Medal in Physics Science. In the year 1907, he passed the M.A. with special qualifications.

Sir C. V. Raman was a great scientist. They invented 'Raman Effect'. He was the first Indian to receive 'Nobel Prize' in science field.
