Summary:

"The Best Christmas present in the world" is the 1st lesson of class 8the English. Honeydew book, author of this poem Mr.Michael Morpuro.

The author spotted in a junk shop at Bridport, he found a roll-top desk. It was quite centuries old. He shopkeeper told him that it will be of 19th century's. The points the shopkeeper told on it was, it was too expensive, looks old, bad conditions, the author though of restoring it. After sometime the author brought the roll-top desk and he returned to his workshop.

In his workshop he went to the garage and the poet started to the day was Christmas Eve, he settled up ans also started removing everything from the roll-top desk and he found a drawer and he pulled it out. The port vocalized looking it he said water damage to me, he rendered that water and fire both have taken the roll-top desk.

When he pulled the drawer, he couldn't open the least one, he have tried a lot and finally he gave a venturos force and pulled the secret drawer, A small black tin box was in the secret chamber with a notebook, he also found a letter in it, he open the letter and started to read the letter. The letter was written by Mr. Jim Machperson.

He started to read it the letter was written on December, 14 , 1914. Mr. Jim Machperson wrote his Christmas celebration and his experience of celebrating with their enemies. Jim belongs to a British Army they went to fight nearby their country borders. They mother British and germans (Tommy's and Fritz) both met each other the Fritz started shoting! Tommy's! Tommy's! Tommy's! Merry Christmas with a whole peace faly on their hand, Jim said Tommy's were ashamed they were second to be compromised.

Finally they started celebrating with eating food, talking, chatting, playing football games and after the Christmas mas over again both the armies were set to fight and finally Mr.Jim died at this fight. The letter was written by him before his death and after reading the whole message the author closed the letter and went to vist Mrs.Machperson at Bridport.

But she was admited in a hospital and she was very old and after comming from hospital she spoke to the author and they went to Jim's house but she was mistaken that the author was Jim and he retuned back, she was not read to listen to the author and she keeped talking with author and finally however the author left saying up the truth.
